Grant Project Title
Creating Effective Strategies to Drive Health Equity Through Knowledge Building and Workforce Transformation
Grantee Address

NIIOH (National Interprofessional Initatitve on Oral Health)
55 Madison Street
Denver, CO
United States

NIIOH plans to bring together three independent national initiatives that have been advancing interprofessional workforce transformation across education and practice – NIIOH (including Smiles for Life), Oral Health Nursing Education Practice (OHNEP), and the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (NCIPE) – under the leadership of NIIOH with one Executive Director and Administrative Support. The consolidation of these three organizations will reduce silos, improve communication, and increase impact. The two overarching goals are to:

Integrate OHNEP as core program within NIIOH to increase opportunities for funding and sustainability

Partner with NCIPE to advance NIIOH sustainability and integrate oral health into NCIPE’s strategic priorities, activities, and resources

NIIOH will remain a 501(c)3, working with NCIPE staff to map potential infrastructure support. This support will help NIIOH leverage, access, and utilize NCIPE’s resources and programs to spread oral health integration across their network, as well as explore joint grant funding to support NIIOH sustainability. By the end of the grant, NIIOH anticipates the development of a collaborative plan to sustain the partnership and delineate a path forward, ensuring long-term NIIOH sustainability.

NIIOH stated in the proposal that if a sustainable business plan can’t be created, NCIPE is prepared to move towards incorporating NIIOH, however, neither party is seeking that at this time.
