Over the past several months, synchronous teledentistry has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity and use as practitioners have sought ways to support oral health and triage emergencies during an unprecedented global health crisis. The increased utilization of dental telehealth is unlikely to wane, even as COVID-19 and the coronavirus eventually do. However, this novel encounter platform can present challenges to those accustomed to seeing patients face-to-face. Guided by the SHARE framework, participants will explore the necessary interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication and patient and family engagement during synchronous teledentistry. Participants will gain practical insight and skills for immediate application in their daily work as we all adjust to this new normal in dental care access and provision.
