This investment supports ACHIEVA/The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh to lead, in partnership with other Pennsylvania organizations, statewide advocacy efforts to reinstate comprehensive adult dental benefits in Medicaid, in alignment with The DentaQuest Partnership priorities to promote health equity, engage grassroots partners in systems-change advocacy, pursue person-centered models of care, and expand access to public adult dental benefits. Pennsylvania’s public adult dental benefit was reduced through an administrative loophole, and ACHIEVA has been working with grassroots and statewide partners to get that reversed. Specific deliverables for 2020 include: supporting a joint resolution to study the cost-savings of restoring dental coverage for Medicaid beneficiaries, expanding the current Benefit Limit Exception, and collecting stories and other data to make a case for the public benefit. $130,000 will support staff time, in-state travel, meeting and office expenses, and other administrative costs.
