This investment supports the Bering Omega Community Services to provide oral health services for uninsured and indigent people living with HIV/AIDS. Bering Omega’s Oral Health Clinic is the only HIV-specific dental clinic in Southeastern Texas. In 2013, the clinic served 2,573 unique individuals and provided 16,406 client appointments. Grant funds will help cover the general operating costs of the clinic in the form of salaries for 12 health care professionals, allowing the clinic to continue to provide services to those with HIV/AIDS. Grant funds provided through the Community Response Fund will improve access to care for an underserved population with special access needs.
