Summer News from the Analytics and Publication Team

We are pleased to announce the DentaQuest Institute is partnering with the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to create a 2-year full-time Fellowship in Oral Health Informatics (OHI). DQI will help fellows access dental electronic health record (EHR) databases to provide opportunities for conducting informatics research. Applications will be accepted from July 15, 2016, through Jan 15, 2017, and the fellow will begin in July 2017. Further details and application are available on the NIDCR website.

Analytics and Publication presented a scientific research poster at the 2016 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM). This fantastic meeting brings together over 2,400 attendees from a multitude of backgrounds, organizations, and disciplines to attend more than 150 educational sessions. Regardless of specializing in health economy, health disparities, or clinical research, we are all health service researchers. Our poster, titled “Gender and Race Inequalities in National and State Emergency Department Visits for Dental / Oral Health Conditions,” was presented at the Disparities Interest Group and general poster sessions, and was one of the few posters dedicated to oral health. Our AnP DQI team is championing the formation of the first AcademyHealth Oral Health Interest Group with support from the American Dental Association Health Policy Institute and other oral health services researchers.
