Looking Back on 2016

Looking Back on 2016

Looking back on 2016, the DentaQuest Institute team has so much to be proud of. Our MORE Care integration initiative is now engaging rural primary care providers in three states (South Carolina, Colorado, and Pennsylvania). Safety Net Solutions is addressing the needs of dental students, dental directors, health center administrators, and others to support the successful running of efficient and effective safety net dental programs. Our expert clinicians are elevating the importance of caries management and prevention by addressing national conferences and meetings and publishing training and education resources.  Our Oral Health Center is delivering quality oral health care focused on improved health outcomes for its patients.

DentaQuest is dedicated to addressing the root causes of oral health problems, advancing the practice of oral health care delivery, and mobilizing oral health stakeholders around strategic goals to improve oral health for all. As an organization committed to innovation in these spaces, DentaQuest is changing some of its internal structure to best support their transformation.

After 20 years of leadership and service to DentaQuest, Dr. Rob Compton will be retiring from his primary roles as Chief Dental Officer and President of the DentaQuest Institute at the end of this year. While stepping away from these roles, Rob will continue to be present, on a part-time basis, to support transformation efforts at DentaQuest. In a number of senior leadership roles, including his most recent, Rob has played a pivotal role in our organization’s growth and success, including the significant expansion of our benefits business and the launch of both the DentaQuest Foundation and DentaQuest Institute. Rob has led efforts to build a prevention-focused, disease management model of oral health care and pushed the organization to test new models of reimbursement that support the future of care. His influence and thought leadership extended outside the organization as he brought his expertise to a number of national change efforts, most recently the American Dental Association’s Dental Quality Alliance. He has influenced clinical leaders at DentaQuest and across the nation.  Rob’s legacy will continue as we expand investments in building and scaling an aligned model of oral health care and financing that achieves the Triple Aim.

Tequila Terry, who has served in a number of leadership roles at DentaQuest (most recently as Vice President for Policy Implementation), will serve as the new Executive Director of the DentaQuest Institute. She will oversee a seasoned team of leaders and clinicians at the DentaQuest Institute and Oral Health Center to drive this important work forward. The leadership team at the Institute and Oral Health Center will continue to advance efforts to transform the delivery and financing of dental care and prevention.

These transitions mark an exciting time for our organization, and we look forward to continued success as we work together to improve the oral health of all. We are grateful to you, our partners, for all of your support in this effort.

All the best,

The DentaQuest Institute Team
